다섯 연으로 된 짧은 자서전(Autobiography in Five Short Chapters)

1.
난 길을 걷고 있었다.
길 한가운데 깊은 구멍이 있었다.
난 그곳에 빠졌다.
난 어떻게 할 수가 없었다.
그건 내 잘못이 아니었다.
그 구멍에서 빠져 나오는 데
오랜 시간이 걸렸다.

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost …. I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

2.
난 길을 걷고 있었다.
길 한가운데 깊은 구멍이 있었다.
난 그걸 못 본 체했다.
난 다시 그곳에 빠졌다.
똑같은 장소에 또다시 빠진 것이 믿어지지 않았다.
하지만 그건 내 잘못이 아니었다.
그곳에서 빠져나오는 데
또다시 오랜 시간이 걸렸다.

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

3.
난 길을 걷고 있었다.
길 한가운데 깊은 구멍이 있었다.
난 미리 알아차렸지만 또다시 그곳에 빠졌다.
그건 이제 하나의 습관이 되었다.
난 비로소 눈을 떴다.
난 내가 어디 있는가를 알았다.
그건 내 잘못이었다.
난 얼른 그곳에서 나왔다.

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in …
it’s a habit …
but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

4.
내가 길을 걷고 있는데
길 한가운데 깊은 구멍이 있었다.
난 그 둘레로 돌아서 지나갔다.

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

5.
난 이제 다른 길로 가고 있다

I walk down another street.

우리들은 이제 다른 길(another street), 천국의 길을 걷는 사람들입니다.
